Seems we are just juggling classification status of certain data sets.

As for explanations, a terrestrial origin in my view is possible. However the phenomena seems

to present itself in a myriad of ways. Is it science or religion?

We as humans are at a great disadvantage here. Our perceptual limitations are a great hindrance

towards understanding. Be aware that there is a very real nonphysical aspect to this phenomena.

Our evolutionary status is a integral part of this puzzle as well.

Following along with some of the comments and Loeb's decision to ignore past events leads me to believe maybe the Phenomena is leading us all down a rabbit hole. I don't necessarily buy the ET hypothesis. If they're from some other reality or can traverse time as well perhaps this is a long game effort to further muddy the waters and the collective human position. Maybe It decided to show itself in order to gain more public attention. Now that there's a spotlight on the issue and prominent scientist involved it'll just disappear for a decade or two. They'll be all these studies that show nothing. It may also decide to manifest itself in other, less tangible (or believable) ways leading to more confusion. Just a thought......

Hi Billy, thanks for heads up. Re health effects, this was recommended for study by a panel of scientists and UFO researchers organized by Prof. Peter Sturrock of Stanford Uni. in 1998 (I guess you'll know of this anyway!). Nothing developed from this officially AFAIK but I guess now it is. He wrote "The UFO Enigma" from this meeting. Great read. Press release here.

I think it's right Avi Loeb does things with a clean break, focusing solely on measured data from his team's brand new instruments. He's aiming for peer-reviewed and published work but I'm guessing will have a nod to historical issues in any intro. to a paper (or papers). It'll be a tough enough sell to get through the refereeing process, to say the least, and he knows this.

The mainstream news media coverage of UAP's has gone south again

Now the primary focal point of interest is the missing Gabby Petitto and minimal interest in UAP's

Nicely done, Billy. I get the feeling, like Powell said, that these legislative moves are likely the result of what certain committees already know about - specifically what they heard and saw in the ODNI classified briefings. (Are you aware of any leaks?)

Mitt Romney stood close to the red line when he told Jake Tapper: "I don't believe they're coming from foreign adversaries...That would suggest they have a technology which is in a whole different sphere from anything we understand, and, frankly, China and Russia just aren't there. And neither are we, by the way."

And Rep. Tim Burchette (R-TN): "If the Russians had UFO technology they would own us right now...It has to be something that's from out of this galaxy, if in fact it is real."

I'm not on the same page...yet...with those who will claim this is all kabuki theater. But I do subscribe to the opinion these developments are happening in a dimension well distanced from the "need to know" gatekeepers, the Knights Templar of the UFO grail.

...

It was just announced that Luis Elizondo has signed a book deal with an imprint of HarperCollins. The press release claims the memoir "promises to reveal shocking not-shared-before details regarding what Elizondo has learned about UFOs and the profound implications for humanity."

A sensationalist blurb to gin-up pre-publication orders? Or will L.E. put one foot over the line?

...

Still waiting for the Deep Throat of UFO world.

I was going to mention the Havana Syndrome too, as Rhana did:

From one point of view, everything that the politicians are doing, can be argued to be the result of the implications of drones potentially manufactured by foreign nations; all the reporting and research is exactly what the authorities should have been doing in response to a 'mundane' threat, given the existence of these known platforms.

The fact the ball was set rolling by Mellon and Elizondo and their assessment of the apparent extra-terrestrial abilities of said drones, may be inconsequential.

It's a case of Indiana Jones being told to grab the 'rope', when he's in denial about the true nature of the item.

We're just checking out the drone situation. That's all we've been asked to do. Nothing to worry about, just the drones.

Are the tidbits concerning exposure or health effects by .."individuals" (???) or possible "capture or exploit discovered UAP" another form of soft disclosure.....Does "individuals" cover both civilian and military?? No mention of recovery... only discovery. Sorta begs the question : Did the writers of subsection 1652 make a public relations gaffe in the content and language, or is there more tantalizing subterfuge at play? You can be rest assured that Greenewald and Dolan are already all over this.

"the assessment of any health related effects"....jumped out at me. Probably because I'd recently heard a discussion of the Havana Syndrome for which they still don't have an answer. At least not that they're sharing. Could there be a connection with UFOs? Sorry if that's a stupid question. You know I'm at an age that I don't care. I'll ask them :-)
