I have a passion for programming, having been part of the generation around at the advent of home computing with the ZX81, BBC Micro and others. Computing, as it's mostly taught in schools in the UK today, would have made me opt for Latin instead.

If you want to kill the spirit of free thought and wonder in relation to any subject, then teach it as part of a curriculum. Besides, you need to know the answers in order to test pupils.

I think that UFOs appealed to me because they represented something outside the norm and something obviously beyond the control of grown ups. Individuals who discover the field are probably best left to explore it for themselves.

If aliens ever provide us with useful information, I'd hope that 'how to teach effectively' is near the top of their list.

Another well thought out and written piece by Billy encompassing a variety of subjects that visit the current landscape of our culture and the UFO mystery. Billy covered a great amount of territory in this piece but somehow ties it together with the subject of UFO's. Hopefully the younger generation in Florida and elsewhere will see thru the Christian Right and their political puppets attempts at controlling the 'State' with one like mind. If human history is any predicter of the future that will eventually fail under its own inadequacies and greed.

As you may have guessed I LOVED this message from Jonestown. Thank you for bringing Sarasota's and Florida's dilemma to a wider audience. Having attended all school board meetings since 2016 I saw what was happening. One small positive sign. Those who were not paying attention and were deceived by the candidates are waking up and attending meetings. Even the new board members are questioning some of their decisions. Non sequitur: trust you won't get blowback for assigning a female pronoun to flora :-)

Not many journalists could mix biology and social engineering into one coherent story, with UFOs as a sideline. Too many quotable lines to pick one out, but another gem of an article.

Sorry to hear about the state of your state. Like plant-life, its stupidity has spread easily and far.
