A profound piece, Billy, with a keen-eyed and apt juxtaposition. You bring a heartfelt sensibility to your work like none other.

For me, it evoked the thought that if I am correct, if what I have written in previous comments about the ET envoys being here on a spiritual mission, a mission of salvage and aid, is true; and if their harmlessness has been known all along at the highest above-top-secret government levels, then the “dangerously dysfunctional [Air Force] culture that refuses to relinquish its darkest secrets... shielding UFO/UAP data from the citizens..." is indeed a form of BETRAYAL - not just of US citizens, but of humanity.

There are vested interests in this county and outside that want to see us rip each other apart. I agree this issue could bring the country together if something shocking were revealed. It's either that or maybe WWIII if the Russians invade Ukraine and keep going West.

"Remember the Maine!," Gulf of Tonkin!, Commies taking over Grenada!, Iraqi troops pulling babies from incubators and stomping them!, Qadafi giving viagra to his troops for mass rapes!, Iraqi weapons of mass destruction!, etc, etc...

I'm sickened that after decades of proved lies and propaganda that accompanied beating war drums citizens are still relying solely on the USG and mainstream media for information about this "crisis."

And it's nearly always been the case that when a leader's domestic poll numbers are tanking (Biden, Johnson) a foreign military "crisis" conveniently erupts so they can demonstrate their sagacity, firmness and resolve.

A *very* moving piece.

The Nazi persecution of the Jews, Romani and homosexuals was both criminal and ignorant and the repercussions are still with us today. It's part of our history.

The path forward is unclear, but the future will most probably lead to greater understanding and diversity (universal tendencies).

The seeds of our future are with us today, but we rarely perceive them. All we can do is strive for a better world.

"And this was neither the time nor the place to confess that my faith in an obsolete political system had fallen so low that I’m beginning to view the UFO problem as maybe the last significant thread binding the conceptual fabric of loyal opposition."

As this is my situation exactly, I'm wondering if it pervades writing on subjects of any sort, not just politics. What else can possibly be as important?

It's getting more difficult to imagine.

A sobering reflection, Billy, that has been presented so many ways. how do we spend money on space exploration when Americans have no plumbing and our children have no certainty of food tomorrow?

Poverty will exist with or without space exploration. Always has.
