Having his wife involved re the loony who turned up at his door must have shaped his comments. There certainly are nutters. But he's gone against science as well even though publishing that pretty good paper (with the other Professors) in Nature. I'd guess he's conflicted, bitter wrt nutters and knows he's can't speak much. But his recent has now created a tension that has to be resolved by Congress members who surely see through this.

His Hayden Centre comments (November 2023) I thought very interesting ... "... is there a technological way that the Office [AARO] can differentiate extraterrestrial technology from Russian technology then, sure, if you have those signatures identified between Russian technology and what the scientific and academic community might hypothesise the extraterrestrial technology look like. Until you have that you don't have a differentiating measurement. It's not diagnostic enough".

I thought this really hopeful and sticking to the scientific method, then he does all this latest. He could have joined Avi Loeb's project still keeping his NDAs. Travis Taylor is his equal scientifically and *did* keep quiet at Skinwalker Ranch (still there!) about scientifically heading the US Gov UAP project with Jay Stratton. Would have been a great signal.

Again – Sean Kirkpatrick is a disgusting, incompetent liar.

And he proved that he works for the Deep State, of course.

We need a new U.S. government UFO office!

A clarification here from Chris Mellon about Kirkpatrick's whining, definitely worth a look: https://twitter.com/ChrisKMellon/status/1750294265597428216

Kirkpatrick's farewell rant contains the claim the Chinese have been working on cube-within-sphere drone technology. (He saved that little tidbit of info for the last minute.) It's a not so subtle reminder that his marching orders have always been about dealing with the UAP threat. Any government concerns about UFOs don't officially exist; in any event they're something they intend to keep to themselves.

I find it interesting there's a YouTube video posted on the To the Stars FB page apparently put together by the New York Post. The video attacks many legit (IMO) voices seeking more info and disclosure info about UAP.

Blaming the other guy for your own perfidy is a tried and true deflection tactic, see any old or new Soviet/Russian propaganda attack, Trump, etc. A modernized version of "I know you are but what am I?" that was so successful in turning grade-school taunts aside.

Also "see any old or new" USA "propaganda attack".

The Russians and the Chinese have got nuthin' on the US when it comes to deflection tactics.

If you know how to follow the money you know that all 3 are working for the same people. Those being the same people who profit in a multitude of ways from both sides of any war.

Sean Kirkpatrick probably never was going to do any real science on those 'anomalous encounters' as the office he headed most likely did not really have the pertinent classified data. IMO there is a higher level intel group that oversees that office and what it is able to see or not. Not really that different than the old Project Bluebook. I think Kirkpatrick really found himself caught between warring sides and probably felt he could not make a difference one way or another. His allovness and arrogance did not help things much either. Now its Tim Phillips turn and probably will go the same. All those scientist that were under Kirkpatrick's management, what the hell were they doing? We probably will never know but it is fairly clear that the office is not independent and not transparent. It is just that old 'Blue Project' loop that we have seen time and time again.

Would love to hear from some of those AARO researchers about their work. Appears their identities are being shielded like underage crime victims.

The disclaimer per editorial director on the bottom as follows:

"This is an opinion and analysis article, and the views expressed by the author or authors are not necessarily those of Scientific American."

RIGHTS & PERMISSIONS

Actually this is the opinion of Scientific American. Otherwise Kirkpatrick would not have his POV published in Scientific American.

Sean Kirkpatrick ..the perfect candidate for the job, he once held at AARO

That's why he was put in. His mind was already made up

I would anticipate that Chris Mellon, Leslie Kean , et al are preparing to write rebuttals.

All Scientific American cares about is defending the Scientific Establishment. Which has taken a beating over the past few years for a variety of well deserved (and vastly overdue) reasons. And the beating is only going to get much worse.

Mellon is as trustworthy as Kirkpatrick. He's just playing the good cop to Kirkpatrick's bad cop.

As to Leslie. At this point I get the impression that she knows that she's in way over her head.

What the powers that be really knows about the phenomenon is a giant iceberg with only a very small tip showing above the water. They will never ever willingly divulge what they really know because if they did it would result in a total loss of control of the narrative.

You also get a decent idea of Scientific American's editorial values with its link to a spread by Keith Kloor, who dismisses the Schumer amendment as "the legacy of plutocrat-backed fringe science." Yawn zzzz.

I predict that the MS News Media outlets like NBC and ABC will join sides with Kirkpatrick and you'll see hit pieces from contributors like Oberg, Klippenstein and West.

Ever get the feeling that Kirkpatrick is a tool to goad Grusch into breaking his security oath by providing more specific details to the general public??

I tried to take the same pledge and hold off but I made it even fewer days than you did, Billy. Just another failed New Year's pledge, oh well. Keep this up. Your singular voice is so critical.
